Lincoln Hall Historic Structure Report

Location:

Reno, Nevada

Lincoln Hall is a former dormitory building on the campus of the University of Nevada, Reno. The building was constructed in 1896 and, nearly a century later, listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1987 as part of the University of Nevada Reno Historic District. The building’s period of significance was established as its construction date (1896). The dormitory retains architectural significance as an excellent example of turn-of-the-century dormitory architecture and has an overall high level of integrity.

TSK Architects and IS Architecture jointly responded to a Request for Proposal to undertake a programming study and Historic Structure Report to support the rehabilitation of the building. The Historic Structure Report provides a base recordation of Lincoln Hall and includes recommendations for further research and work on the structure. The report gives an overview and assessment of the general conditions of the building, the role of this site in the larger history of the area, a description of the building, the chronological history of additions and changes, the present condition of the building, structural concerns, and proposed rehabilitation and preservation recommendations.

The Historic Structure Report was deemed “an exemplary document” by the Nevada State Historic Preservation Office.
