Thomas Shepherd French Eclectic, 1934

Location:

La Jolla, California

The homeowners bought this historically designated home designed by Master Architect Thomas Shepherd in 1934. Due to the period it was built, their “master bath” was very small. Our solution was to design a new master suite addition for the homeowner that was complementary with the French Eclectic style detailing of the existing home.

The master bathroom has a classic Carrara marble hexagon floor and Carrara marble countertop and tub top.  The ceiling height was raised to 9′-0″ and all white detailing is used to keep the bathroom as open & light as possible.  To achieve this, white beadboard is used as the tub’s backsplash, the cabinetry is a white shaker style and the shower is enclosed with glass (where possible).
