IS Architecture is proud to welcome Mayrelis Perez Hernandez to the team as a Junior Job Captain! Mayrelis comes to us as a recent graduate from the architecture program at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. She brings with her a love for architectural design, adaptive reuse, and historic preservation.

Her interest in historic architecture stems from her childhood in Cuba. She grew up surrounded by historic buildings, many of which had been adapted from their original uses into apartments or mixed use developments. During her undergraduate career, she found that her early exposure to historic resources inspired her to seek out coursework that emphasized historic architecture. In fact, her final project at Cal Poly involved developing an adaptive reuse scheme for a stretch of abandoned subway tunnel in Los Angeles. She was drawn to ISA’s historic rehabilitation work and joined the firm as a Junior Job Captain in July, 2016. Mayrelis will be working with our Project Managers on both residential and historic preservation projects.

You can find out more about Mayrelis and our other team members on our Studio page.
