City of San Diego Historic Site No. 1098, Louis and Carmelita Fontanel House

1098 Louis and Carmelita Fontanel House - 4243 Jackdaw Street

The seven aspects of integrity– location, design, setting, materials, workmanship, feeling and association are met with
some loss of “material” integrity. However, the house continues to provide us an opportunity in understanding residential
design occurring in San Diego during the 1920s. This is an excellent example and expression of efficiency
and practical stylish design synthesizing the Craftsman Bungalow design ideology with Traditional architectural elements,
and therefore appears significant under HRB Criterion C for Architecture.
